Fall 2011 Doctoral Symposium

On Friday, November 18th, the docotoral community gathered for the bi-annual doctoral symposium. The event centered around emerging Early College research and practice in NC and beyond. We enjoyed lively panel discussions and presentations from our many scholar/practitioners including esteemed guests:

  • Julie Edmonds, Project Director, SERVE Center-UNCG - See Julie Edmond's Early College Power Point Presentation [PPT]
  • Candis Hagaman, Principal—Caldwell Early College High School (CECHS)
  • Bobby Hayes (Ed.D. 1996), Principal—Early College at Guilford College
  • Ken Boham, President—Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute
  • Teresa Branch, Co-director of Learning Laboratory Initiative — NC New Schools Project
  • Jim Brooks (Cohort 11), English Faculty—West Wilkes High School
  • Omer Ari, Visiting Scholar—RCOE/ASU
  • Vachel Miller, ASU Doctoral Faculty

As always, the doctoral symposium was an excellent opportunity for members of the doctoral community to gather and explore the issues we face as educational leaders. We look forward to the Spring Doctoral Symposium which will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston Salem, NC in which we will explore the future of public education in North Carolina.
