Dr. Joy Howard joins Doctoral Program Team

This fall, Dr. Joy Howard will be joining the Leadership and Educational Studies department to teach core courses in the Doctoral Program and build our capacity for dissertation advising.

Dr. Howard is deeply committed to doctoral education, having served as a core faculty member of other EdD programs (most recently, at Western Carolina University) and as a founding member of the Social Justice SIG for the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED).

Her work focuses on leadership for constructing humanizing educational communities. She identifies as a “Motherscholar” who specializes in culturally sustaining pedagogy, community engaged leadership, and critical, arts-oriented inquiry. She’s especially interested in humanizing movements and spacemaking within a racist society.

Welcome, Joy! We are excited to have you join our community.
