Dr. Dustin Evatt, a 2019 graduate of the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership focused on Higher Education, recently started his new role as Clinical Assistant Professor at UNC School of Education.
Dr. Evatt is no stranger to higher education: his career spans faculty and leadership roles across NC State, UNC Asheville, Oberlin College, and Western Carolina University. He also served as App State’s Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Assistant Director for Organizational Leadership & Advising. Dr. Evatt says he’s focused on “advancing student success through transformative learning experiences,” a feat furthered by his doctoral education at Appalachian State. His dissertation, “White Scripts in Higher Education: White Administrators Navigating Racial Equity and Inclusion Efforts" won the prestigious Alice P. Naylor Outstanding Dissertation Award in 2020.
