The Doctorate Program would like you to join us in congratulating our recent graduates and current students on their new positions!
Alumna, Dr. Kimberly Nava-Eggett
Dr. Nava-Eggett was named Director of the Center for Diversity Education at UNC Asheville as of May of last year. When sharing the news with us, she commented: “As a UNC Asheville alum, I am excited about coming back home to the very campus that prepared me to be an educator as a Teaching Fellow and to continue the work of centering inclusive education and diverse voices in our community. I am grateful for my educational journey at Appalachian State and how it opened doors for me academically as well as in my career. Quite frankly, I wouldn't be here as confidently without the experience the Educational Leadership doctoral program provided me with. I'm happy to have both universities represented in my office!” The Center for Diversity Education’s history page, which can be accessed here, now includes Dr. Nava-Eggett’s leadership.
Alumna, Dr. Deby Mitchell
Dr. Deby Mitchell, a Spring 2024 program graduate, accepted a position as the Director of Disability Services at Lenoir Rhyne University in July. She shared that “Although there has been a huge learning curve, I love what I do to support our students with different abilities!” Additionally, Dr. Mitchell celebrated her retirement from the school system the same week that she accepted her new job. Lenoir Rhyne highlights Dr. Mitchell in their staff directory which can be accessed here.
