EdD Students Attend iLRNS Conference in Scotland

higgs002cr_0.jpgCurrent students, Fredrica Higgs and Tim Scapin, along with faculty members, Dr. Patrick O'Shea and Dr. Amy Washburn, and Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Program Services for the College of Education, Dr. Terry McClannon, attended the Immersive Learning Research Network's (iLRNS) 10th annual conference in Glasgow, Scotland on June 10-13, 2024. Dr. O'Shea, Higgs, and Scapin were involved in a session focused on building further building our community by developing a consultancy initiative. ILRN is a powerful means through which, as a community, can showcase students' skills, knowledge, and talents. This session took the first steps towards building a structure that will leverage this knowledge and skills for the betterment of the wider community while also potentially providing consultancy opportunities for participants.

Scapin would like to thank the Office of Student Research at App State and the Haywood Community College Foundation for supporting this educational endeavor. Scapin said, "throughout my graduate and doctoral studies at App State, I have been supported by amazing faculty members like Dr. O'Shea and Dr. Washburn, who have helped me grow both academically and personally. Since 2019, Dr. O'Shea has been my mentor and research partner. He has helped me enter the research world, get our work published, and collaborate with academic institutions overseas. I am proud to represent App State on the world stage."
