Program Concentrations

Program Concentrations

Five concentrations are available to students. In order to fulfill the requirements for these concentrations, electives (12-15 credit hours required) must come from the lists below. If a course is not listed, approval from the Director of the Doctoral Program is necessary in order for it to count towards the required elective credit hours. To get approval, the student must send the course name, course number (must be 5000, 6000, or 7000 level. Note: 48 of 60 hours must be at 6000 level or above) and a syllabus to the Director of the Doctoral Program at least 3 weeks before the start of the semester. The Director will reach out to the appropriate Directors to gain approval for each course. Internships are required for each concentration unless they are waived by the Ed.S.

During the first year of the doctoral program, students should develop a preliminary plan for their electives. This plan must be discussed with the Doctoral Program Director. The Director will have a meeting with each student in the cohort during their first semester in the program. During the meeting, students will talk about their research interests and the Director will suggest electives that may fit with the research interests. Students should also meet with the Graduate Program Director in their selected doctoral concentration area to guide planning for electives and internships.
